Is there a good kayak paddle under $50? Probably fiberglass, as I'm afraid aluminum would bend while pushing off. Looking for one about 220-230 cm.

BB Whisper. It has an aluminum shift but you're not going to bend it.

No, probably not. One that will work, yes. But not really a good one.

so yeah, whisper x4 ^^THIS^^ I've had mine since my first yak 4 years ago. I use, abuse, and beat it to death and its no worse for wear. I keep thinking I'm going to upgrade, but then ask myself, "Why?". Its light enough that I have paddled 10-15 miles on more than one occasion with no excessive soreness and I know I would be afraid to do the stuff I do to this one to an expensive high-end paddle.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

Thanks y'all. I've searched several places and it looks like REI has the best deal at $59.95. I'll probably go pick one up today. This is my first paddle to go with my first kayak. Does 10cm of length make much of a difference in paddling?

They are the same price at Mariner Sails and they can help you to make sure you get the right length. Length makes a big difference!!!

How tall are you and what kayak do you have?

Ive used a 230 and wasnt nearly as comfortable. oh...and like Jerry said, head over to Mariner Sails if you havent been there yet. Great store, great prices, great people.

220cm will work for you and that kayak since it's a sit inside.

Austin Kayak ACK.com has the BB whisper for $59.00, plus they have a 15% discount for first time buyers and for members of Texas Kayak Fisherman TexasKayakFisherman.com and they often have free shipment on items over I believe $40.00. While you won't get the paddle today shipment is very quick. I have received items the day after I have placed my order and I am in the metroplex, and their customer service is second to none. Good luck in your search.
