Ran low on material and made do with the material on hand. Made a Pink/White Near Deere and one we are calling the Mardi Gras Near Deere as it is made with purple and green material, or maybe it will attract fish like Mardi Gras attracts party goers! Post.

Able to try the Mardis Gras Neare Deere Saturday afternoon; caught two and lost one. Then, caught them on other fishing flies including an Olive Near Deere. Video is posted: "Murphy for Trout This Round."

For Sunday, opted to fish a different pond; Near Deere worked great. Bite was good with a limit being taken in short order, and then switched to catch and release fishing while trying different fishing flies. Sunday's Video.

Fighting a cold here; hate it knowing that trout are biting in our area - North Texas and Oklahoma. To make matters worse, our friend in Australia sent a couple of reports of trout biting in Oz! Even sent pics; added them the bulletin board ...Post.

He has been using the Olive Near Deere we sent him several weeks ago. So far, he is having the same issue we had while fishing the Blue River... trout follow but turn away. Luckily, it happened to other fishing flies in the fly box, too. Sounded like deja vu from our last trip to the Blue!

for the trout, my fly will be soft hackle soft hackle and lots of soft hackle
I fooled thousands of trout on that same fly in diffent color.

two flies that always catch trout for me:
1. a jigfly- just a 1/100 oz jig with marabou or rabbit fur tail and similar body(instead of cutting off the excess marabou after tying in the tail, twist it into a rope, adding a little spit and palmer it up the hook shank, or use chenille. You can add a little flash
2. a #16 marabou streamer with beadhead. Use above method for tying in the marabou; dark olive or light olive will catch them-p-
