My lower unit on my 1996 Mariner 3.0 225 froze up. Would you rebuild or replace? Where would you go to get it done? Thanks

There two things that are a negative about these l/u's. If you use it in a tournament then it would void your warranty. We have seen some propshaft breakage. They will give you a new l/u but not pay you for your lost $500.00+ prop.

OTR we do rebuild them if they can be rebuilt. It would be hard for me to give you an accurate price to repair without tearing it down and inspecting it. When we rebuild them we use OEM parts which gives the consumer a year warranty.

that old of an engine, if u must keep it, I would take a chance with a brand new SEI lower unit. By the time someone takes a look at it the labor and parts necessary to fix it may be so much more than a brand new unit.
