I'm thinking about making a run to Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway (Newmans Bottom) Directions to Newmans Bottom to kayak Yegua creek Saturday November 1st.

The crappie and black bass fishing should be picking up with the cooler temperatures. The creek currently is running clear/green and high enough to paddle all the way to the lake with little trouble. We could even set up a shuttle to/from Nails creek park if enough yakers show up.

We will meet up Saturday at Slovacks in Snook 8:30am get some kolaches and then head to Nails Creek park to "check in" about 9am. From there we will make our way to Newmans Bottom and the Yegua. should be on the water by 10am.. Anyone with a yak can do this trip and sometimes we even catch fish! wink Just be at Nails Creek park around 9am and I'll do my best to get you on the creek and some fish!

A day like this should be shared with friends.. If you are waiting for the whitebass next spring to fish the Yegua you are missing an even better opportunity to catch tons of crappie. Yes we caught a lot of undersize fish but many were legal to keep (10 inches) smile Who wants to join me on the creek next time?

flehan Not only do I love your fish tales, I also enjoy your wildlife photos (and video). And the duck hunters were very cool. Kudos, Ben. I need to get down there.
