I just love when these posts show up with people complaining about cities pulling water from "their" lakes. The lakes were built for WATER supplies from day one with some exceptions for more irrigation or flood controls down south. I hate when a lake is low like anyone else, but it's not the cities' fault that they are using it for exactly what they were intended to be used for....we just need rain in most areas and hopefully this Fall and Winter will bring some.

Never Said it was "my lake".I'm not the taxpayer that's going to eat 70 miles of pipeline to get there.I'm fully aware of why man made lakes are built.

Not this time, PK was not built for water for any city. It was built to generate power and an under handed deal by Luminant Power and our state legislature let them start selling water. It has cheated people with homes on the lake out of millions of dollars of property value while their taxes haven't gone down. Also with the rain in west texas twice this year the upper Brazos ran bank to bank and PK would have been full five or six years ago. But now they just let it out to sell downstream. Yes we need water out here but Abilene is a water whore of a city. They have more water sources than any city in west Texas and just keep pumping. In Albany we are on mandatory stage 2 restrictions but Abilene is in "volunteer stage 2".

Anyone actually seen this water flowing in the Brazos that PK & Granbury "send downstream"? I live in Somervell County riverfront on the Brazos. That water does not pass through my back yard!

Yes I have seen it many times. I cross the bridge at Mineral Wells once a week. It is not always flowing but they have regular releases. I have also seen it flowing bank to bank into the lake at Graham. A lot of it goes to Squaw Creek.

I have also seen it flowing bank to bank into the lake at Graham. A lot of it goes to Squaw Creek. Ok hang on here Luminant has nothing to do with BRA or any PK generation. Also there has not been enough rain on the PK watershed to come anywhere near filling PK. I had a place on PK from 1980 until 2005 and I now live on Lake Graham which is down 14 feet. Lake Graham does not have the ability to let water out unless it goes over the spillway and it has not done anything in the last 3 yrs. but go down. If PK had got enough runoff to fill it up, Lake Graham would have gone over the spillway. But PLEASE tell how any of this is Luminant's fault. Also you have not seen the Brazos running bank to bank into Lake Graham because the Brazos does not run into Lake Graham. Our watershed consists of Salt Creek and Flint Creek. Johnny

Oh yeah we are in mandatory Stage 3 in Graham. Stage 2 was a snap wait til you get to Stage 3 or 4.

The whole Brazos chain will be dry in 10 years. Dallas and Houston have been fighting over it for the past 15 years. Now Abilene is sliding in to *&^$ the corpse before it rots.

Things are starting to get ugly and will just get worse, going to see a mad rush for water here soon if nothing changes. You got growing cities, industry and farmers all putting their straws in the Brazos, there's only so much the old river can provide. Building new dams in a drought aint going to fix squat.
