Anyone know what this is? It hit a rattle trap. Seems like a hybrid, but I've never seen one this dark and it had a very small mouth, like a bream.

That looks like a match. Thanks for the picture. I guess that's my first yellow bass. At least that I can remember.

Those little suckers are annoying, and you aren't even allowed to use them as bait. They really seem to go for anything shiny.

That's what I hear. Maybe one day I'll go through the trouble.

The second photo is definitely a yellow bass not so sure about the first photo. The next one you catch ,check and see if he has two tounge patches. If so you have a small Hybrid my friend.Where exactly did you catch it.

I didn't check the mouth out because of the treble hooks and because the mouth was very small, too small to get my thumb in there, especially with the treble. I'll get a better picture next time and try to investigate the patches.

Caught on West Fork of the trinity near downtown Fort Worth.

Poorly colored yellow bass or some type of hybrid yellow bass (if there is such a thing).

It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

to me looks like a Hybrid...yellow bass are not as "tall"....also the dorsal fins aren't joined like a yellow bass would.

Just my opinion. Good eating if you like them.

Yellows have a line break at the anal fin like the 2nd pic, makes me think yellow/white mix.

Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart
