Articles normally talk about using a short shank finesse hook or something similar with a wacky rigged stick bait, i.e. senko style bait. But I see where some use EWG worm hooks. Would appreciate haring some comments about what some of you use and why. I lost the best fish I had on today while using a Gamme finesse hook with a weed guard. I fish in a lake that has rocks on the bottom, no grass, and the main problem I see with using a EWG hook is hangups in the rocks?????

Losing a fish is a part of the game but hands down the best wacky rig hook that I've used is the Gammi wacky rig hook with titanium weed guard! Those things are sharp as heck! My tournament partner sold me on them after I saw him catch several big fish on the little hook.

I have had the best luck with Mustad weighted weedless hooks in 1/32 or 3/64 oz. The wire weed guard works for me for years.

I agree with the above, that is the best hook for wacky rig. I suggest an o'ring to keep the work/senko from splitting in half when throwing.

Thanks,

VMC also has a good hook too. But the Wacky Saddle O-ring system is awesome

Gamme rig-n-hook 1/0 hands down, gets hung up less in any rock you fish.

I tried a #1 offset Diachi hook with wacky rig and had a lot of break-offs due to hook eye/knot contacting bass teeth on hook set. Went back to #2 offset Diachi with no more problems. Something to consider.

I caught a heckuva lot of fish wackying back in the 90's before there was all the specialized tackle/hooks and back then I used a light wire straight shank Gammy worm hook. Now days I use the finesse Gammy with the weed guard in 2/0 and 3/0.

These are my favorite. Good 'ol Texas business, too. Remember to just reel set after strike.

I use a 2/0 straight shank for wacky rigs. Best hook up ratio I've found.

That's one of my favorite ways to fish. I learned from a few guys that have been fishing that way for 30+yrs. So i've tried a lot of hooks in the market. Hands down these are my favorite. They are sharp, strong shank, and i miss less fish. I put on O-ring on my senko and just slip the hook under the o-ring.

or i use these if i'm fishing a little deep.

Yes Texsuperman, those are good looking hooks. Thanks. BassFisher317, years ago I used a straight shank hook and it worked well. Where I'm fishing now has a lot of rocks, so I've hesitated to use one, but ought to try it. Thanks.
