What is your favorite top water rod, excluding a frog rod? Currently I have a couple of Shimano Crucial TC-4 rods and a Loomis M action crank bait rod. All of these are 7ft rods.

All-Star Actually I do like them despite the change in quality but i'm a falcon guy. Wish I could afford a Loomis but i think my wife might rearrange my face if I came home with one and the price tag was still attached.

My favorite is an original Allstar Zell Rowland Topwater Special.

I like to use my Swimbait rod for my topwaters.
Seems to work fine for me.

I like to build top water rods that are 6'8-6'9 in length with med power and fast to mod fast action. You want them to have enough back bone to work the bait but enough give to keep the fish hooked up. Much like a crank bait or Jerkbait.

The Shimano Crucuial 6'8 medium with the medium fast tip is an awesome topwater, jerkbait rod.

These are cheap, course you can't get it any more I'm pretty sure but I like all star asr fluke action as they call it. It's a little firmer than medium but soft enough not to pull hooks. It works great with big spooks that my medium stuff doesn't like. I have a bunch of expensive rods but keep picking up that one. When they were available I think 69.95. The cork handle ones, green.

All-Star Actually I do like them despite the change in quality but i'm a falcon guy. Wish I could afford a Loomis but i think my wife might rearrange my face if I came home with one and the price tag was still attached. I own an old American made All Star Zell Rowland Top Water Special it is the ultimate top water rod. In a pinch it works real well with Ratl-Traps too.
