Has anyone heard about Texas parks and wildlife spraying grass in Rayburn? I heard through the grapevine that they are spraying the Angelina river up north. I also heard they were moving to the attoyac next, then prophers, then Harvey....I don't know if this is true but does anyone know if there is a website or number I could call to find out?

The lake is full of healthy grass, most in years. I don't see why they would target the backs of a few isolated creeks. Would be pointless. The rivers would be pointless as well. They have sprayed the salvania in the past however.

I was way up north a few weeks ago and they sprayed. You could see it taking effect.

Why in the freaking world would u spray Rayburn's grass.... They don't have much recreational boaters, no lake from prop pert with expensive docks and swimmers pretty much completely away from most of the city folk that hate the grass because it messes with their skiing and wake boarding and swimming. Makes no sense to me. What could the grass be doing other than makin the fishing better?

Yes they sprayed to kill the salvania. I seriously doubt if the spray they used effects hydrilla or milfoil. I haven't heard of any future plans, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I live on the Attoyac. It is getting bad in the river. You cant get off the river because of it.

The Corps of Engineers has used private contractors to spray giant salvinia for numerous years. Water hyacinth abundance increased in response to the giant salvinia decrease, so it has also been treated this year. Relax folks, no plans to spray hydrilla.

Well take it from someone that lives on Caddo Lake...The spraying does not work and is very short term at best! Pray for a cold winter and high water...that is what saved Caddo. But I will say in some places it is coming back strong!

That's what I thought. They will never spray the grass, hyacinths and salvania up north is another story. Glad Todd cleared it up.

I have a place on the lake and fished all over. The grass is thick in Veach, Five fingers and Harvey. I have not seen it that thick before all of the grass is going great, great to see. My water line from the lake is producing crystal clear water now, love it.

For that mater the trees, bushes, grass everything is growing like crazy, looks awesome.

Todd, can you explain to these knuckleheads that think every time the grass dies off it's the corp spraying it. At least try to explain to them the cost verses the benefit equation.

Thanks Pat

I dont know if they are spraying or not. However, when they do spray it kills all the hydrilla and milfoil as well.

Negatory. They can target what strain of vegetation they want to kill. Even though hydrilla and silvinia are both in the plant kingdom, they are not closely related at all. One can be targeted without effecting the other.
