I know people regularly ask for recommendations for insurance companies of the TFF but nobody ever actually shares what they pay. I know it's "apples to oranges" unless you compare limits, deductables, additional libility and actual boat value but it's helpful to know "ballparks" of what others are paying with their recommendations. I feel I'm paying too much based on what all my automotive insurance runs. I have State Farm. $50,000 valuation, $500 deductable, extra $250,000 personal liability and I pay almost exactally $1000.00 a year. No claims. Do I need to shop when this policy comes up in a month? Thank's 361V.

I just financed a Skeeter SX 220 with 250 hp Yamaha SHO.

I have $60,000 in coverage, and $250 deductible. I'm paying about $500/year.

My sister is a State Farm Agent and she quoted me ~$1200/year with the $250 deductible and $1000/year with a $500 deductible. Financing institution would not loan with a $500 deductible.

State Farm will also not have marine adjusters. My sister even suggested I go with an insurance company that specializes in the marine industry.

I went with West Coast Marine. Since my sister is an agent I usually don't even shop around for insurance. Thankfully Fain at Fun-N-Sun told me, "Buddy let me just get you a quote real quick." About 2 mins later he put a quote in front of me for more than half the price my sister could offer me.

Good Luck.

I am a State Farm agent and insure a lot of boats. Not sure what the sister is talking about but we have top notch claim service on boats. I can give you references if you need.

Yep, they are high but considered good. I switched to GEICO for autos and home is with Liberty Mutual.
