I made few fly poppers earlier, and caught sand bass, small large mouth bass, and small stripers with them. One thing I don't like about those poppers is that the hook up rates were low, the fish "self releasing rates" were high. I really don't like those hooks.

This is one popper I made before:

So I decided to twist my poppers a little bit: using hooks that I have confidence with:

I went striper fishing at Lake Texoma Saturday morning, to try out my new twisted poppers. I fly fished for about 1 1/2 hour, had 4 hook ups, landed 3, lost one close to the bank. There were not big, but I am happy with my twisted poppers.

Thanks very much gentlemen!

My twisted popper does have a little "swimming action". It's like articulated popper. grin

Most of all, the hooks I use are very sharp and strong, which gives me lots confidence for big fish.

I use foam bought at Basspro. Below is the picture of the hooks I used. You can see that I am unconventional guy. grin
