Made another trip down to Port O'Connor this past week... probably the last offshore trip this year... but went out with a bang. I got my first sailfish! And the crazy part is I got it in after an hour of fighting and chasing it with the boat on 30lb braid and a Shimano baitrunner 6000!!! Definitely one of the highlights of my fishing life! I was also blessed to have Mark Parker (texas guide fishing) on the boat with me as I doubt I would have been able to handle it all alone and it meant a lot to share that with such long time fishing friend/mentor! Probably going to do a replica mount and retire the rod and reel it was caught on with the replica on the wall..... banana

In other news... Also got my first Tarpon! thumb Ive tried and jumped some but never landed one til this trip! As usual we wore out the endangered red snapper...caught plenty of blacktip sharks... got on some good red fish inshore and around jettys when it was to rough to go offshore... got some good kings... All in All one of our best trips yet!

the sail fight on light tackle.. bannana2

Endangered Snapper

Tarpon.. he put a good show on!

Bull reds
/slot reds

My dad and me

some kings with Shanon and Misti

Some rough seas

Til next trip!!! thumb

Great fish!!!

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

Wow... you did good, awesome mixed bag. I love POC, had an uncle that lived there, made that a must go. I've seen those waves outside the jetties---wooooo it can get rough. BTW those endangered snappers taste great HUH !!!! LOL.
Great post, really enjoyed it
