I have a year 2000 Triton TR19 w/175 Merc that I love dearly. As I get older (76 in Dec.)my legs and knees have become so weak and painful, it's hard to get out of the low drivers area and climb up on the deck.

I was thinking about a center console, but know nothing about them--bay boats, flats boats, etc. I would ideally like something that fishes like a bass boat, if possible.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh, btw, it will only be fished on Joe Pool, like my current Triton.

I am noticing more and more center console boats on fresh water lakes. I am working on more too. Get one where you can set down and drive.

If you are running in fresh water you don't want a c.c. boat with very much tunnel under it.
It will beat you to pieces in choppy water. Don;t ask me how I know.
After you own a good c.c. boat you will never go back to a bass boat.

Thanks so much for the replies--For lake fishing in winds from calm to 20mph, would an 18 to 19 footer with a 115 to 150 hp engine do a good job for me?

Thanks so much--again!

I know my 24' Sportsman Masters will handle that weather.

Not sure about a smaller boat.

There are a lot of CC manufactures, some with a lot of storage, some with no storage. I've been wanting a CC for yrs and for Christmas I got a 2014 214XTS NauticStar with a Yamaha 150. I love it. Your more than welcome to join me for a day of fishing if we can get out schedules to line up. Take as many rides in as many CC as you can to help you make the right decision for you.

Storage is something to consider. My G3 1860 has almost none. I just ordered a SeaArk 1872 which has quite a bit and I opted to have storage compartments instead of live wells since I'm not a tournament fisherman. Anything I keep that's destined for the grease goes in the big cooler.

I have a 19' Blue Wave and I love it.. For Lake fishing it suits me better than any bass boat I have owned. Mine is a super tunnel and doesn't beat you up as bad as you would think, like any other boat knowing you boat and how to properly use it will depend on how rough a ride it is. That being said the next one I get will be a 22'-24' Mako so I can get in to some bigger water.

I am thinking a CC would better fit my fishing style than a bassboat but do not want to give up the speed. Also, nothing less tha 6 cylinders for me. I am thinking bay boat would be a compromise.

The SCB stingray runs 90mph, don't think speed is an issue on bay boats. My new stoner fury will run 70mph, its 23' will take on any water in a lake better than any bass boat and costs less too.

How fast do you really need to go over the water. I guess that's pretty important to the tournament guys, but for recreational fishing? Resale value also comes into the mix. Do you think anyone wants to buy a used rig that has seen most of it's life running at WOT? I'll opt for the center console doing 30MPH and a T-Top to keep the afternoon sun off of me. JMHO.

Folks who don't have fast boats don't get it. It's not about running WOT, it's about the cruise. I can cruise at 55mph and get 3.4mpg. WOT is WOT, not matter what boat or motor is has. The faster the hull, the more efficient the boat is. When running 30 miles to the land cut I don't want to run it at 25 mom to get the same burn rate as mine going 55mph.
