Is this lake productive at all? I drove around it once a while back, and it wasn't exactly love at first sight, but looks can be deceiving ...Just wondering if anyone could post any recent reports here , and what types of fish are predominant in there? Mainly looking for panfish.

Great lake and park. Have done well fishing for crappie in the past. Bass fishing is also very good as well as catfish. Maybe I have just been lucky, but have always caught fish there. Go for it!

You are welcome sir. Another plus is the up close encounters with the Bald Eagles and very peaceful.

That sounds pretty good too...I'm looking for a nice , small lake like that to take my son to when he comes to visit me next month. He lives up in Oregon, and wants to come here to go fishin,(go figure!) The eagles should make him feel right at home. grin

Bass fishing can be tough at times. The lake has no vegetation to speak of so timber is the next best thing to focus on. Stumps and laydowns along a breakline where the depth changes a few feet seem to hold a few bass all day. Stump rows are good too, especially where they cross an old creek. Recently the bass have been schooling over or just off humps, some top out at 2' in 6' of water others 9' in 15' of water. Catfish have been really active at the shallow end of the lake along the old creek bed. I've been catching them on crankbaits.....can't imagine what cut shad would do!! There's a guy fishing there all the time who is a crappie fanatic. I'll bet he knows where they are and would love to tell you all about it...very friendly...fishes out of an old Kingfisher.

And the lighted piers on each side can be fun after dark. Get a couple dozen minnows and bring a couple chairs when the sun (& heat) go down.

It was one of my favorite bass lakes until they (TPW) killed the grass off. Still holds fish just harder to find and catch. Very good ramp and facilities.

Seen many eagles out there over the years. Neat place to camp as well.

I don't really have much to add except TPWD rates this lake as "Good" for crappie and sunfish, "Excellent" for lm bass. And, I went there (for the 1st time) this past Monday and had a rough day, mainly due to gusty winds. The upper end of the lake gets really shallow and there are stumps everywhere. I like stumps, so despite the bad luck on Monday we're going back in the morning!

Thanks Guys,I think I will give it a try in late October. Is there a bait shop somewhere along Hwy 175 that has minnows,or anywhere between Cedar Creek and Purtis?

There is a bait shop / feed store on the east bound side of HWY 175, I think it's after Cedar Creek.

Great facilities, but can be a tough lake to fish like others have said. It seems people who stick with the lake and learn it are rewarded.

Used to be a bait shop in the park. I hate it closed.

Great pictures. There are two or three of them lately. It scares the X$%@@ out of me when they dive into the water after a fish just a few yards from where I'm fishing....usually behind me. Almost fell out of the boat the first time it happened. OMG Bass fishing has been tough for me the last two weeks. I can't put a pattern together....just covering lots of water seems to be the best way to catch 'em. The crappie are beginning to stack up in creek bends...best in the mornings.
