I refuse to be the guy start a ford vs chevy style thread. I don't want a nitro just because it's a nitro, or any other brand just because so and so fishes in one. I am a club tournament fisherman, maybe small tourney trails in a few years. I am not worried about hole shots or going 60mph instead of 50mph. I am looking for a good reliable bass boat that is long lasting. Engine is also important, hp doesn't matter at the moment, and I don't have a brand preference but want a long lasting reliable motor as well, four stroke? A big thing for me is being able to fish in the wind. A 19 may be heavy enough? or if it's a big difference in weight between brands let me know. Thank you guys very much for reading.

There can be a very broad range of boats you can buy for 10K. You can get an older, bigger boat or a newer smaller boat. You can find some pretty reliable boats for 10K. I'm going to pick up a 2000 Blazer 20'5" with a 2001 225hp yammi(14hrs on rebuild) tomorrow for right around that price range.

For $10k you will be looking at older models, but still good ones if careful. A 19-20ft boat with 175-225hp would be nice, but 18-19ft with 150hp may be more in line for $10k. Brand is helpful at resale, I would stay with Champion, Ranger, Skeeter, BassCat, or Triton in no particular order...just based on condition of motor and hull.

Shop around and test drive several before you make a final decision. Also think about electronics, trolling motor, batteries, trailer tires and wheel bearings. Good luck

Don't get in a hurry. Shop, shop, shop so you'll know a good buy when you see it. Don't bother looking at one that hasn't been kept in a garage or enclosed storage shed. When you find one that meets your standards, criteria, take it to your friendly boat tech or mechanic and have them check out the motor, transom. Check out the trailer. 10 years ago I shopped for several months before I found a super clean, garage-kept 20-ft Champion with a 250 Mariner. It was in great shape, checked out by my marine tech, and I bought it for $7,500, which was a bargain even then. I still have the boat and love it. You can find a good boat in your price range. Just take your time and don't let 'boat fever' affect your decision process.

There is a good looking Sealth VIP in the classifieds for 7000. Shop around and drive a few but have it checked out by a good mechanic before you pay for it.
