Are Blue Catfish in all Texas Lakes? There are a couple of lakes that I have fished with no Blues caught.

I doubt they are in every lake...but it just depends. You can look up stocking history of most lakes in tx. But don't count on that fully, all that does is confirm that there are blue cats in that lake. Not confirm that there isn't if that makes sense, even if blues weren't stocked in the lake, the river or creek that feeds the lake could very well have had blue cats in it before the lakes were built, which means that more than likely at least a few blues got trapped from the damming off of the river or stream...for example, lake Lewisville has no documented history of ever having been stocked with blues. But yet it's still a flourishing blue catfish fishery. My thought is either blue cats were trapped from the Impoundment of the lake which is my first guess. Or. It's quite possible that upon impoundment that it was stocked with several species, including blues by the corps of engineers....but IMHO what happened was my first guess....hope this helps

Where do you chase blues at Hugo? I was thinking of making it over the river.

Hugo is decent but Cooper is your best option for sure , just pray for rain because its close to being unlaunchable again

I cannot find that 50 pound record. I will say that Pat Mayse is an excellent channel catfish lake. PM me and maybe we can meet sometime. If you go to Pat Mayse you have seen me out there more than likely. since retirement it is where I hang out mostly.

It is difficult to convince myself to fish elsewhere because I can fill an ice chest at Mayse almost any day.

Thanks for the link. I will put a live bait pole out when fishing and might catch the other Blue in the lake (lol). I mainly fish with Stubby's or one of the punch baits to catch the Channels.

I am sure I would love it. I may drag my boat to Cooper this week. I love to fish and big ones are great fun. The blues seem to put up a good fight. Really some cool weather would be a very good motivation for me. I run out to Mayse and stay till my tongue is hanging out (about 2 hours). I don't deal with heat like I did in the hay hauling days.
