Should I get a jon boat or canoe? Have looked at both with good and bad reviews. I plan to take it around the bay and in rivers.

Plan to use small outboard, troll motor, or paddle? Haul in truck or on top of vehicle?

Probably will be in the back of truck. If a jon boat we have a 9.9 hp johnson. If a canoe we will probably use paddles.

If you put a motor on it, you will have to have a title and have to register it every year. Canoe, you have none of those issues if all you do is paddle.

Ok thanks, so is it worth getting a jon boat? I have had expirience in both and canoes are much more unstable than a jon boat. Does that matter in the bay?

Depends on what you mean by "in the bay"? In backwaters and marshes, I'd look at a yak or canoe. ICW and similar, I'd look at a jon boat for the stability. In the bay, I'd be looking for a bigger boat. But that's me.

I mean backwater and ICW so I was leaning towards a Jon boat.

Thanks
