Me ketchn a BIG, BIG, BIG fish yesterday morning at Texoma when fishing from bank.
Y'all know that I am a bank fish man, I have no boat, kan't ketchn no fish on big water.
What the hack, I read way too many ketchn's posts, now I am talking like him now.

With few friends, we went to Texoma yesterday morning, fishing for stripers. As you know, striper fishing is in my blood, I really like to catch a big, fat momma ( I don't mean human being ), enjoy the sound of my reel peeling off.

Well, we were so surprised to find out, water level is up 2 feet, and water temp. was down more than 10. I have no clue if these changes had anything to do with striper's appetite. They were not eating, not our lures anyway. We tried, tried, and tried different lures for few hours. Noda! My friends finally gave up that spot, went to try different area. As you know, I am a stubborn old man, so I stayed foot, continued casting into the wind, and there were plenty air for me to catch, for sure.

At this point, I pretty much gave up ketchn any thing. All in my mind was just practicing my fly casting. Well, to my surprise again, suddenly I had a tight line, I mean TIGHT LINE. That dawn thing dragged me hard, made me put all my line back to the reel. Don't know what it was: no jumping, no flying out of water. I was thinking: maybe another cat? I caught a good size cat a little bit earlier, my PB as well. This one might be bigger.

That BIG FISH fought me so hard, it took me all around. As you know, it's very, very difficult to control big fish with fly rod. Fly stick is very long, soft, and the drag of the reel is no where close to the drag of a spinning reel. It takes skill, takes a real man to control that giant. Let me show you the weight of my giant, you will know what I am talking about.

It's way over 5lb, very close to 6lb. Well, what can I say, fish man always exaggerates. rolfmao

It took me a while to finally land that giant. First look at her, all I could say is WOW! What a fat, big, beautiful momma!

I know she's huge. But I had no idea how big she is, until I came back home, got on line, checked TX state record, and found this:

Ladies and gentlemen, please pay close attention to line 6:
Texas state record is 5.21lb, caught by a gentlemen named Machael Ainsworth on May 21, 2002.

Wow! This record was set back in 2002! and still going on!

Now y'all know that the giant fish I caught is at least equal, if not any bigger, to the TX state record.

I started fly fishing last March, only 3 months ago. I am so proud of myself, to be able what I did in such a short time frame. What an achievement.

Thanks gents. What a bless to be able to catch a big, beautiful fish like that!

This fish is not the biggest smallie I caught on that lake. This one was much bigger, leaner, and stronger. I did not have a scale, or a rule with me at that time, and I did not want to kill her. So I let her swim without taking any measurement. I do think that she was over 6lb.
