Finally have a small window to fish, so going up Sat despite wind looking bad for small boats.

Well I know ONE thing for sure, can't catch a big striper from my garage and only a few weekends left before Father goes back to Taiwan. So wind or no wind we plan to be there at sunrise Sat morning.

The wind is going to force me to fish the Islands and or channel by Mill Creek to Highport or I could go to the East, but if the wind picks up , I will be pinned down against the south shoreline by Eisenhower State Park. I might be able to make it to Little Mineral Mouth, but not out to Burns or Table Top area.

So any thoughts on what side to pick Highport and Islands or Eisenhower shoreline ?

I think the wind may have made my choice for me .. 13-15 sustained and gusts to 20 .. We will be working the islands at sunrise.

Hope to see ya on the water.

according to Accuweather, it's only supposed to get up to 10mph all day long.

Eisenhower has been dead for me all year. Only caught one good striper this year and none of those big smallmouth I saw last year.

Bummer

NOAA for Rockwall shows 5-15. Yesterday it was 10-15. Best thing for morning fishing is it shows 5 tonight. Last W/E was too calm for me.

Weather forcasting is like fishing .. not an exact science smile

Fishweather.com for Grayson Airport and Cedar Mills Yacht club says 10-14 in morning and building to gusts of 20+ by 10am.
NOAA says Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Heat index values as high as 103. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Accuweather for pottsboro shows 10SSW for every hour

My safety factor for going out in the big open parts of Texoma is under 10-12 mph .. More than that from the south and the rollers build to much for me to cross in front of Big Mineral or get around Preston Point to the Big East Tex-ocean smile

My Father-in-law also isn't that mobile, and his old bones can't put up with the bouncing around. So Highport for us and run to Mill Creek area, check the cut , maybe go behind the islands for topwater. Then check the ledges by Wood Island and boy scout camp. Hopefully the fish will be around.

If you see us on the water say hello .. we seem to be good luck for others .. or at least we usually see others catching fish smile

Hey Rob, my phone died while we were out yesterday, sorry we didn't hook up! We need to one of these days! We fished from about noon-2 (got a late start) over in little mineral arm. Caught a bunch of catfish, but no stripers. After two hours we threw in the towel and went to the islands to have a swim and drink a few diet milks. It was a little choppy getting over there, but nothing terrible. While we were there some guy almost drowned right in front of us- jumped off the front of a pontoon in about 15ft. and couldn't swim. hmmm Hopped in my skiff, ran out, hauled him and his buddies out of the water. Then some yayhoo dislocated his shoulder on the beach so I reset that for him. I told Tay we better get out of there or I was going to start charging for services rendered. Be careful out there, the "tourists" are in full force!

Green, your services were in high demand, wow. A couple of people were thankful you were in the right place at the right time and that you had a willing heart.

Rob, I enjoy reading your posts.

Well done, Carson! You would look good wearing a cape or a round vibranium shield with a star in the center flag smile

Enjoyed reading your Texoma' huckleberry Finn adventures, Rob smile
Looking forward to the day when you and father holding the trophy fish pics smile
