For the first time in 14 years I will be a boat owner. Signing the papers tomorrow at Fun-N-Sun on my dream boat, an SX220.

What are some necessities that I need to pick up this weekend? Posting the current list I've come up with below, what am I overlooking?

Adult Life Vests (4 pack for Guests)
Adult Life Vests (for myself and my wife)
2 Youth Life Vests (1 for my son and 1 extra)
2 Throwables
Fire Extinguisher
Flares (visual distress signal???)
Air Horn

4 Bumpers
4 Fender Lines

Anchor
Anchor Line

2 Dock Lines

2 Rulers
1 Scale
3 Marker Buoys

Waterproof first aid kit. Boat should have a horn. I'd get two anchors. A cast net.

Does you boat have leaning post with rocket launchers?

Yes it is the bay boat. Yes it has 5 rocket launchers on back of the lean post.

Can't believe I forgot about first aid kit, definitely a must have.

I have a cast net.

What type of anchor for these west TX lakes?

I had a couple of this style. I used two when there wasn't current so that I wouldn't sway when soaking bait.

These may be better though.

Reason I asked if you have rocket launchers is because I have a universal removable backrest that I didn't trade in with my boat that I would sell for $50. Comes in handy sometimes when the wife wants to sit back there.
Looks similar to this and the arms fold up when not in use so easily fits in a hatch somewhere.

If it's a 2-stroke, keep some extra 2-stroke oil. You'll want to keep a small, basic set of tools (screwdrivers, wrenches/ratchets, pliers, etc.). And some small extras I keep on the boat: cotter pin for the prop, extra trolling motor blade and nut, set of jumper cables to jump the big motor off the TM batteries, a flashlight and possibly spotlight, set of scales, etc.

I'm sure there's much more, but those are some things I keep in the boat and have been glad to have at one time or another.

The boat is a pretty much fully loaded demo model. It includes a removable backrest. Appreciate the offer though.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Sweet boat partner!! Fun n sun are good people, they always treat me right..
You're gonna love that motor. I have the same 1 on my fx21 and it's so quiet at idle, I find myself looking sometimes to make sure it's running...lol..

$600 in free tackle ended in June.

There's few lakes, not afraid to drive though for a weekend getaway.

James,

Absolutely love that motor. Not a super fast boat as its a bit heavy, but handles a load extremely well.

2 people and full tank of gas, we got up to 57. 6 people and full tank of gas we got up to 56.

Only ran at full throttle for a few seconds. Spent most of the week cruising around 40-44 mph.

Took it to Louisiana and was able to visit the places I grew up at as a kid. Made a big circle that would normally burn 6 gallons of gas in my dads skiff with a Mercury 50 on it. We burned 8 gallons in this boat. I was extremely surprised and pleased. Gets on step in a hurry even with a load and everyone in the back of the boat. Handled the Crew Boat and Tug boat waves really well when we were running the Atchafalaya River.

Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Now I just need to learn how to use the electronics.
