I've never use one and never heard of them until reading this forum...but keep in mind I'm just getting into this.

Anyways I bought a few to try and I'm not sure if you're supposed to tie onto the jig head through that eyelet...or do you tie onto that clip that looks like a safety pin that's attached to the blade??

Also...is this supposed to be fished like a spinnerbait?

Apologies for what many will think is a stupid question, but thanks to anyone who can provide info!

By far my favorite bait out there and it will catch you big fish. Tie to the swivel on the blade and fish it like a spinnerbait around heavy cover. In my opinion it works the best near standing timber or on the edges of bullrush. If the standard retrieve doesn't work, try stop and go or reeling slow and then speeding up for a second. Ripping it off the bottom will get their attenton sometimes too.

I use them as I would a Squarebill. Especially around vegetation.

You tie to the clip. It is designed to tie on to it as it stick through the bottom of the blade. Some have a split ring to tie to and you do the same. Tie to it on the bottom of the blade.

The picture above answers your question, but I always like to think of it like this. You tie to the end of the snap, because that is what forces the blade to stand upright and displace the water and "thump". I've noticed with the ones I make that the bait will move erratically with a faster retrieve, and will run straighter with a slower retrieve. That is probably because the shape is non-hexagonal and the blades are thicker than the blades on Z-Man's. Vary the retrieve and see what works each day. Bladed swim jigs have a time and place like everything else, and I've had some of my best days of fishing with one of those tied on.

Alex, bend the top 3/8ths of the blade forward(away from the bait) and see what a difference
it makes. It doesn't take much maybe 15 degrees. Wow it will really shake your rod then.

I caught some very nice bass on them this spring. What other times of the year are they productive?

honestly I have not seen a time of year they do not work. Initially I had little luck on them till I saw how people were fishing them when they were in my boat. I love them now. From 0' to as deep as you want to throw it they work. Year round they just flat catch fish.

Well I need a lesson from you then! Lol. Anything you care to share that might help me a little?

I've heard that before, but haven't tried it yet. I will definitely try it out.
