I am getting my first look at Joe Pool lake tomorrow but dont have any idea about which ramp is best for a kayak or waht I should target this time of year? Any help is welcomed... I am open to cat fish, bass or crappie.

Going out tomorrow morning. From looking at some of the maps the parks on the west side of the lake look like they are closer to coves for the yak but never been there so open to anything.

Thanks!

Robbie Milam lives down there and I'm sure he would be happy to set you in the right direction.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Free launch at the oasis marina if you don't have your kayak on a trailer.

$5 dollar Launch at Britton Park. Just get the envelope and put it in the slot before you go all the way through. Its less traffic down that way as well. I just started yakin and been down that way a few times. Lots of trees and stumps and you can also go right out of the launch and go towards the small bridge and fish and also down to the creeks that way also. I live by Joe Pool also and met a few yakers out that way already. Oasis is free though just alot of traffic !

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We ended up launching from Loyd Park. I must say that is a really nice park in general. The campsites look really nice so I may have to come back and camp sometime.

Got on the water by 7:30 on Sunday morning and the traffic was minimal but you could see all of the boats that had been launched the day before tied off to the sides of the lake and I just knew it was going to be crowded. By about 1pm it was too much. There were more jet skis and pleasure boats than I felt comfortable with. Not to mention the high number of bass boats on the lake. We had to make our way back through the stumps to avoid the open water and then hug the shoreline to get back. I think I will wait until the boat traffic slows down before going back.

We caught a few small fish but nothing even worth taking a picture of. Every boat we talked to had the same story. The big ones must have been hiding from the boats too. LOL

I caught this girl Saturday morning 10lbs. I docked in at Lynn creek marina my second cast and my second time in my kayak and she gave me a little ride too. I was just passed the marina in front of the rocks...

That's a real nice fish Mike. Joe Pool has some monsters in it but it's hard to fish in the summer months with all the play boat traffic. I've had more hairy moments on that lake than all others combined. In a boat or yak.... Anyway congrats on a very nice fish

Nice fish Mike! I know that you practiced the CPR method as that monster went and told all the other big boys to lay low for a few days. haha.
