 Construction question....When did the manufactures switch from wood to composite?

Got the go ahead from the bank and most important, Momma, to start looking for a good used boat. My "plan" is to buy the biggest, newest boat (10yrs or newer) I can for under $20k as I, again, "plan" on keeping it and dont want to regret getting a smaller boat. My 2 top main concerns as a new boat owner are; 1) Getting a good used motor and 2) no wood rot and a solid transom. Obviously there are many other important things I'll be looking for but Ive noticed that at some point, manufactures have shifted away from wood.
Anyone know the year where the manufactures made the switch?

You will be fine on any big name boat in the age your looking at. Most made the switch around 2000

10 years old or newer no problem if you stay with name brand boats.

10 years old or newer no problem if you stay with name brand boats. Except Bullet I think Gary. No wood is standard on 'em now but for a very long time it was an "option"....
