what a bunch of damned nonsense.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Sounds good in theory but who is going to really do it and how will it be inforced?

LP, I have to disagree with your comment. I agree it's a pain but, IF it stops the spread it will be well worth it. If you haven't seen what they can do to a lake, you'll be very surprised how bad they are.

It won't stop the spread. But it's at least an out for those charged with the responsibility and given the authority to say they did something to address the problem.

If we were serious about this we'd do something like put up a boat wash station at each boat ramp. If, in fact they/we truly believe that soap and hot water will kill the critters.

Hopefully we will soon gain a better understanding of how to handle and distribute our water supply or maybe an advancement in technology will make it easier to control them.

Until then, thanks for the reminder and I'll be sure to not buy anymore minnows and do my part to wash and dry the boat.

I have addressed this before. One simple question: what about the water being released from the lake to the rivers or creeks. Is everyone involved in this law an idiot? Sorry 2 questions. hammer

Help me out here.

I don't remember reading in any TP&W Zebra Mussels publication, that the new "Law" was proposed to STOP the spread of Zebra Mussels.

Everything that I have read states;

The new LAW is to help SLOW DOWN the spread of Zebra Mussels.

TP&W knows there is nothing currently in use, that will stop them.

So you Na Sayers keep spreading the Zebra Mussels around and I hope you get caught soon.

Do your part or stay off the water.

Don't you have a tournament to prepare for or something? Didn't I say I would do my part? It's a silly law. We all know it. But hey, doing something is better than doing nothing at all. Or is it? Who knows.

I remember reading something that stated after visiting a lake, you had to wait so many days before you could go to another - REALLY!
Someone please clarify!

Silly Law?

I don't know of a better way to SLOW DOWN the progress, other than Out Law all boating State wide. That's how they got here in the first place. Pipe lines and rivers will continue to spread the Zebra Mussels and they know that. Also, I have not seen any data that states birds, do spread Zebra Mussels.

How about a Zebra Mussel tournament on Ray Roberts?

I believe that lake has seen major changing effects in the last 10 to 12 months.

So I am not laughing.

Out of state boaters brought them here. Tournament fishermen more than likely and those new Texans who relocated from other parts.

There are many possible solutions. You just have to think outside of the box. But this isn't the time or place for that discussion.

Not laughing? You should, and do it more often. Life is short. We should have fun and enjoy it. Even if we disagree.

Me neither. The fishing is really tough on that lake right now. I was fishing a tree a couple weeks ago and when I got hung up, I accidentally broke off a small limb. When I pulled in my awesome "stick fish" there were at least 10 zebra mussels on the branch all about the size of a dime or smaller. Not cool.

have you noticed the somewhat large water pipes that go from lake to lake?

its not going to stop it. they are linking most lakes together with huge water pipelines to try and even the distribution. for example, there is a pipe that goes from stillhouse, all the way to georegtown.
