From that link...

"Well never understand why someone would risk losing their fishing privileges and being publicly ostricized for a few hundred bucks in a jackpot tournament. But were glad that anglers report suspicious behavior and these guys get caught."

Ego and lack of character. That's why.

Unless the punishment fits the crime it will keep happening. Sad, pathetic individuals that need a life changing experience. Taking their fishing and hunting license for life, impound the boats and vehicles and make them return any winnings plus plenty of community service. That might change some minds. Also glad they got him right in front of everybody so any other idiots with stupid thoughts might be deterred from cheating.

You will never stop a thieve once a thieve always a thieve, and once they get released they do it again and there is always a new one to take there place. Glad they got caught though.

. "His Facebook page has apparently been removed recently, likely due to public outcry from local anglers on his page."

You think?

That's why you take their hunting and fishing license for life. You can't fish a tourney without a license. At least force them out of fishing. Let them cheat somewhere else or learn there lesson, even though I agree that if they stoop this low there's not much hope for them.

That's really a good point. I can't imagine getting my fishing or hunting license suspended. I'd have to find some new hobbies. . .and none would fill the hole that would leave.

Not only impound their boat and vehicle also all fishing tackle. Sell it after found guilty. Donate the money to the locale state fish hatchery.

Every state needs to pass a law like Texas. Make it a FELONY! You can take all their stuff and their license and that will hurt financially. Slap a felony on them and it will hurt for life.

Add a little prison time to that also. Stealing deserves prison time.
