I heard they are now charging people to park there for a guide trip. Is this true? Did Jerry Jones buy Holiday?

If it makes Holiday better, for $5 I am in too. Jerry Jones' would be $50 to park and you still have to walk a good distance to the ramp.

Fished there yesterday afternoon. 5 dollars to launch and Wayne, who was behind the counter is an extremely nice guy. He said his cousin bought the place and they are going to make it real nice. Construction was already under way. Said there in the 45 day waiting period to sell beer.
Fishing report...... Very slow yesterday afternoon. Caught a few sandies by the rocks on rattle traps, swim baits, and I caught one on a top water. Caught more channel cats than sand bass. Did not know catfish liked rattle traps so much. Not much surfacing action at all.

I have no problem with a $5 fee for parking. Also have no problem with a $10 fee for launching, if the ramp is serviceable and clean.
We all see what happens to a marina that can not generate enough income to cover expenses and leave a legitimate profit for the owner. It sucks.
Look around all lakes and you will find numerous examples of decrepit marinas that were very nice when built but quickly deteriorated to scrap heaps when the owners could not turn a profit. It will take lots of cash to return Holiday to a state where the general public will want to play there. Lets help the new owner out by supporting him whenever possible.
I like Twak and would and fish there more often if Holiday was an attractive marina with good facilities.
I wish the new owner all of the luck in the world in refurbishing Holiday and making it what we all would like to see it become.

When I was growing up Holiday was very nice with good food in the caf, decent rooms I was told and the store was stocked and almost always open. They even submitted weekly fishing reports to the Dallas papers.

A truck park in the lot takes up a spot for a truck with a boat trailer my guess would be if they charge 5 to a truck just parking he lost a spot to launch so this way they loose nothing. I see nothing wrong with that.

It's the owner's prerogative to charge what they want. If someone doesn't like it, they can go elsewhere. I don't see a $5 parking fee for guide clients, or anyone else, being a deal breaker. Maybe the guides will work a side deal with the owner so their clients aren't aware of the additional fee?
I like to see the new owners being proactive and wanting to return Holiday back to the glory of it's youth as a business. I already see improvements to the place and hope they continue, even if it means the launch fees go up a bit. It's a business after all, it must make money or they cannot continue to operate. There's only a handful of people willing and able to take on such a challenge as resurrecting Holiday Marina, and my hat's off to their efforts.
I can tell you one thing I would do if I were in the new owners' shoes. I would not ban cleaning fish in the marina, but I would certainly not allow the disposal of any more carcasses in the water around the docks. The whole place smells like rotting fish, all the time. The often stagnant water in the cove, combined with dozens to hundreds of carcasses a day dumped into it, make for a horrible smell, one that my wife hates so much she doesn't like to even go there (I won't repeat what she's had to say about the bathrooms, as that horse has been beaten back to life). My solution to this would be similar to what Jane does at River Ridge.....There, when you are through cleaning fish you must take your carcasses out to the river channel to dump them. Not just to the river, but out into the channel itself so they don't just wash back up on the bank. Many times I have rented the cabin right next to the cleaning station at RR, and have never had a complaint about any odors from it. You can't get within 300yds downwind of Holiday without being overcome by the foul stench of rotting fish. Now I'm not as bothered by things like this as some might be, but I'm not spending any amount of time there beyond launching and loading the boat, and not renting a slip there either. If I did, I would likely do it elsewhere because I would not want to smell the foul odor constantly. I know this would not be a popular policy for a handful of regular users of the Marina, but even they have to notice the smell when they pull in every day. I can only imagine what their less-outdoorsy type clients must think.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Holiday used to be the Marina to go too if you wanted to enjoy your visit and pick up anything you wanted. They had a HUGE selection of all kinds of baits particularly SLABS, JIGS, Etc. Pretty much anything you needed. It would be great to see it back at that level again.
