I was casting a white foam spider on Lake Weatherford today near the power plant inlet. There was what looked like a crested flycatcher bird sitting on the steel wire that spans the inlet. I had already been through that area once and was passing back by reasonably close so I wasn't being stealthy at all. I cast toward the inlets and the flycatcher swooped down and grabbed my spider. I let go of the line with my left hand because I didn't want to snag him and he dropped my spider just as he felt the resistance of the line. Anybody else ever experience anything like that?

I caught lots birds: Seagulls, pelicans on my home made wood poppers. They really went for my lure, diving from sky.

Scissor tailed flycatchers or Western Kingbirds on Lake Weatherford.
I have not caught birds, but I did catch a 25lb snapping turtle on Firestone GC in Ohio.

Only a bat at dusk. Likely a state record for bats on the fly. Pond was strictly catch and release, so I let it go.
In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.
