With all the shoreline growth that is going on now, there is going to be some killer fishing. Just hope I'm around to get in on it. cheers fish

Go check out Twin Buttes. . .90% of what's underwater is green and was above water about 3 weeks ago.

The term "drought" is a term that is way over used. It's minuscule in our water shortage issues in Texas today.

The 30%+ growth in population w/o adding any new reservoirs since the late 80's is the true reason for the water shortage. You cannot up the consumption by 30-50% then add a couple down years in rainfall and expect to keep up.

Texas' population went from 16.4 million in 1990 to 25.2 million in 2010.

Supply cannot meet our demand today, the lack of rain for a few years isn't really a "drought" statewide, more so out west. If so the tanks and ponds in a lot of the state would not be full in mid June.

While you are praying for rain, also pray for some of these people to go back to where they came from laugh

Been praying a lot of the people we got out here now go home but I don't see it happening any time soon. Too many people craving 100 hr work weeks for some ungodly reason. Seems people would rather work 100 hrs at 12$ than 50 hrs at 24 an hour. They're addicted to overtime...I've been watching an oilfield site on Facebook, its crazy what people are offering and what people are looking for. Don't see it calming down any time soon..

If we're not in a drought, then explain the 10+ inches we're behind for the year... I understand the statement about population growth, but we are in a drought. It's black and white.

Doug is right but, we are badly behind in rainfall.
Many, many people are and will be moving here to Texas not to mention a great place for business as well. Why not? Less taxes, more for your money, really good people.
All this draws from our existing water supply but, we are in dire need of rain in at least the DFW area of Texas. Bridgeport/EM, even Ray Hubbard are really, REALLY low as far as 'pool level'.
Welcome to all who come here.....that is just the 'Texas way' but, we sure need more thought into creating more lakes to supply much more water for all uses, drinking and recreation.
God Bless

Well professor I guess that could be true if it rained enough to fill a new lake. We are in an actual drought out here and if they built 10 new lakes we still would be in a drought. A drought is not defined by lack of holding water it is defined by low rainfall totals. Out here we are in the worst drought ever recorded.

As far the OP statement, yes it will be GOOD when we do get some water.

Doug, you are right about population growth but you are very much underestimating the severity of the "drought". We are experiencing a multi-year drought. Aren't you a fire fighter? I am shocked you don't know more about this problem. The term drought is far from "over used", in fact, not enough people understand the consequences of this 3+ year drought and obviously you don't either. You are simply wrong. Do some reading, here are some links...
