Yesterday, I got into a car accident. I stopped at a light and the person behind me rear ended me. After hitting me, the person took off; however, I did manage to capture the license plate of the other person. I stayed at the scene of the accident and waited for the police to arrive. Prior to the police arriving I had already notified the 911 personnel of the other person's vehicle description, license plate and where they are heading as far as direction wise. I have already contacted my insurance and gave them the police report #. Insurance told me to go ahead and take my vehicle to a shop that they work with and have it estimated. I took the vehicle and received an estimate. I was told to wait for the insurance to do their thing. Can any of you give me some information of what is about to come?

Your insurance will pay to fix your car. Same as if you were hit by a uninsured driver.

And your rates will probably go up.

You insurance should pay under collision, or uninsured motorists you will have to pay your deductible if you have those coverages. If they find the car/person that hit you , and took off. Your insurance company should go after the other persons insurance company, and or the individual. If they are good they will recoup the loss, and your deductible should be refunded back to you.I am sure if you have questions about your claim ask your claims adjuster that is something you pay your premiums for.The claims adjuster also knows your policy, and what is going on in the claim the best, and can advise accordingly.If you do not have collision/uninsured motorists then you would have to wait for the other persons insurance ,or repair vehicle on your own.Hope they find the Tort feaser....

dont let your insurance company file it under collision. make sure its uninsured, ur rates will not go up. ur ins company has to prove that the other person does or does not have ins. google uninsured laws.

One things certain, the man who hit and ran had no insurance.

Who knows, but if you got the plate # you should have some luck in it catching up with them. They could have been under the influence as well.

If you have liability and don't have uninsured motorist coverage etc. you may just have to pay out of pocket.

Thanks guys. Well, at this time I don't know yet if the girl (american not immigrant) has insurance or not. That lady was more determined to leave the scene than helping. I was just bewildered of the fact that her first thought was to run. I was thinking what if I were injured or something worst. I am just hoping that she gets caught and be taken care of accordingly. She is too stupid to be among the regular population. That chick needs to be in her place.
