Just a little poll for you guys, as I am going through my usual mid-week where do I wade dilemma. You have your choice to wade through Paloma creek into the back of Powderhorn lake or you can wade from Boggy bayou to Broad bayou. The time of year is June, which do you pick ?

I would probably have to go with Boggy We have a place in POC so we go down as much as we can. We were there for 6 days a couple of weeks ago and fished from bank as well as the boat. We fished the bridge that crosses Coloma Creek on FM 1289 and caught some reds on live shrimp on popping corks. Boggy is good as well. we caught some there but no keepers on that day. We also drove over to Indianola and fished the "green pier" and caught a couple of nice flounder. When on the boat. We fished the Big Jetty's and caught about a dozen nice gafftop and about 4 or 5 sharks some of which were blacktips but we didn't keep them.

Thanks for the reply Salty. I thought I was going to get skunked on this thread. Boggy is what I am leaning towards too, I am just worried about it being pretty crowded over there on a Saturday.

Last time we were there it wasn't bad. there were a couple of Kayaks in Boggy and two guys wading outside of the mouth to Boggy. But.... You never know. We will be down this coming weekend for father's day to see my kids and my dad.
Who knows maybe we'll see you there ? (If you see the red Ford F-150 GTR from my signature, that's us.)

Key to fishing boggy in summer is to get there super early. You will worn our by the time it gets too crowded to fish. Some sundays my guests are too tired to get up, I will hit that area with a super spook jr or left over croaker. Its hit or miss depending on water temp and wind. I caught a monster trout at the mouth Broad about four years ago.

Hey POC prowler and Salty Dawg, What was the outcome? Me and a friend are headed to POC Wed. morning and will fish through Fri. Any tips of where to fish and what to use will be greatly appreciated. We'll be fishing in a 16' boat so we'll need to stay in somewhat protected areas.
Thanks in advance for any help.

We waded a good portion of Powderhorn lake and did real well with black drum and a few reds. We were using shrimp. A good friend of mine waded the inlet of boggy bayou and tore up the trout on croakers.

We never put the boat in the water this weekend. We spent a good part of the weekend with my kids and my dad. We did wade Boggy Saturday evening for a while and fished the inlet to Boggy using live shrimp on popping cork. Caught a few redfish but no keepers. All in all it was still a great weekend though. Had a great visit with my dad and my kids.
