make sure to check the wind before you hit tawakoni!! took my 15ft skeeter trihull with 65hp merc out in 20+ mph winds coming out of the NNE put in at the state park, didnt get 200 yards from the ramp and was hitting into 4-5ft swells, filled my entire bilge to the top, i was sittin in a foot of water as well, had to ride back with my nose damn near standing straight up from the weight of the water, and to top it off my bilge pump sucked in some debris and burnt up. just be careful out there!! and invest in a good bilge pump!! after that night i invested and upgraded from a 500gph attwood bilge to 2 1000gph attwood tsunamis with contact switches. Be safe out there!!!

Get at least a 10 hp if you can get one in your price range, when I had my 14' I started with a 5 and even though it got me where I was going it made a huge difference when I went to a 9.9 hp, Twok is known for big swells when there is wind so no matter what size engine you get it won't make a difference, use caution on any lake

I have a Nissan 9.8hp 4 stroke on my 14' Monark jon boat. With just me it tops out right at 20 mph, which is plenty fast in a 14 footer.

Not in any way trying to talk down to someone with a smaller boat, but for your safety stay off T-Wok in a smaller boat. I have been on that lake in a 24 ft center console and been scared to death. I am not a sissy either. I have seen it go from smooth as glass to 5-6 ft swells in short time. Many others will tell you the same.

How wide is your boat, and how tall, how many people will you have in the boat. and what is the boat rated for,
I had a small 14' and a 9.9 mer, we were fishing a cove on lake Bob Sandlin came out of the cove into 4' swells. we did not have enough motor, or boat. hugged the shore line just in case we went down. it was only a mile to the ramp. but it took like 2 hours. at time's I swear we were going backwards with the motor running forward wide open. never again !!!!
My dad has a 14x48 deep and runs a 25hp Mer
