My tach isn't working any more. I've been told my voltage regulator is going out but the motor is running fine, charging well. The gauge is showing 1500 with key off, 0 with key on. I was thinking my gauge was bad. Any info would help out!! And is greatly appreciated!!

With the key on and engine off yes should read 0rpm with key off don't worry about any of the gauges non of them work except water pressure without 12vdc power. If you still suspect the regulator then hook up the tach to the other regulator. (Gray wire). Check out this old post.

Welcome to the forum. I just went through this exact problem. The proper way to trouble shoot is to put on the muffs start it up let it idle. Cowling removed grey wire disconnected using volt meter the grey wire should put out at least 4 volts A/C if is does not the voltage regulator is bad. If it is putting out the voltage then you will either have a wire or Tach issue.
