Heading in the am. What boat ramp should I use? Traveling from the Carrollton area.

515 West public for free. Lake for Marina for security.

Really depends on where you plan on fishing, Public ramp off 17 is okay as well as Public on east 515. Both ramps are fine and (knock on wood) I have never had a security issue, lots of times I have seen the sheriff park in the lot at times.

West Fork Landing is a pretty secure ramp for 4 bucks. The owner lives onsite within eye shot of the parking lot and is very vigilant. They also had a construction crew last weekend that may or may not still be there building a seawall around the ramp.

I like starting in Little Mustang with a frog around the grass line next to the bank. A frog with a white belly has seemed more productive for me but I haven't been in a couple weeks. Will be headed back in about a week. If you can spring the bucks hire a guide. They can put you on a pattern that would more than likely last your entire trip. Good luck.

Thanks for info. I've been on guided trips but they were about 10years ago. My fishing partner and I have time to kill so finding a pattern will be the fun part.

Little mustang and birch would be my starting points. Ive had good bites on a white frog and yellow magic early in the morning and move deep once the sun goes up then ill go shallow again in the afternoon. Frog bite has been fairly consistent all day.
