How does one get a new key for a boat without spending 200 bucks for a new key box? Is there some way they can Rekey a boat, like they do cars?

You may be able to contact the manufacturer and get a key sent to you.

Check with a local dealer. They only make a few differenty keys so they should have one that will work.

You should have a key code that can be used to get another key. Maybe it's with the original paper work for the boat.

Call parts at BPS or North TX Marine. They had keys for my Mercury when I lost them earlier this year.

If you can get to the ignition switch, remove it from the console. The code should be on the back of it. This happened with my old Skeeter. Called up Plano marine and they had a key at the service department.

KEEB IS CORRECT, CODE SHOULD BE ON BACK SIDE OF SWITCH ASSEMBLY.

What brand of motor is it if it is a merc. they have a letter stamped into the key switch that will narrow your search down. It is located on the outside ring of the key switch.

Get the letter off of the key switch and call a Mercury dealer in your area. They usually have replacement keys in stock.

And next time don't leave your keys on the bumper on the way to the lake! Makes for a tough day fishing, don't it???

Will they do it if you take the lock cylinder out & bring it to them? Or do they just not stock the key blanks?
