I came home from fishing the other night and left the master switch on. It looks like I may have had the lights on my rod box on. Not knowing this, I plugged in the charger and put the cover on my boat. Took the charger off after 2 days and went on. After a week went by, I hooked up the boat and went to the lake. When I got there, my starting battery was dead. So I tried to get the jumper cables to it and jump start my motor. Well they seemed plum dead as well. The only thing hook up to the trolling batteries are the trolling motor, and the charger. HOW WOULD MY TROLLING MOTOR BATTERIES BE DEAD? Is it possible that the light drew some current through the charger?

If the batteries were totally drained you might have fried your charger. Do a load test on them.

If a battery is too dead, hooking up jumper cables won't help. It's possible that your trolling motor batteries are fine.

I left a light on in my boat, had a power failure to the charger that requires a reset to charge again. The battery had 0 volts. The charger would not charge it, kept showing that there was no battery connection, put my jumper cables on my truck, let it charge a few minutes then the charger would work.

I have the batteries on my 3-bank on-board charger going. I will let you guys know if they will charge or not. Thanks for the feedbacks.

I would like to buy a master switch that does not have a light on it so that over time my battery wont get drained. I can't see the light on the one I have now because the steering wheel blocks the view. So if you know where I can get the switch to replace the lighted master switch, that would be good. Thanks guys.

Some Minn Kota TM's will drain the batteries when stored. They recommend to disconnect when not in use.

Perko master switch right next to the batteries solves a lot of the forgetting to turn off stuff problems.
Only thing is you have to remember to use it:)

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Yup, I disconnect mine because I've had this happen to me.
