Hey Mox I usually go with p-line 15-20lb mono on all my chuggers, depending on bait size and thickness of the cover. No matter which line you go with, if you put wax on the last 6-12" of the line, it will float better and you'll get better action from the bait. I just carry a few b-day candles in a ziplock and reapply as needed.

In general:
20lb braid to 12# Pline CXX leader for smaller poppers/chuggers
30-50lb braid to 17# Pline CXX leader for striper sized poppers/chuggers.

15 lb. P-line CX Premium copolymer
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Sunline Super Natural Monofilament I like this in the 12 or 14 pound test. It's very natural and limp, which helps the line last a long time. You also get 330 yards for only 10 bucks. Can't beat that.

Straight braid on my top waters. Just have to make sure you let them take it.

Larger baits, 17lb Trilene XL on a 7ft MH with some tip on it. Smaller baits, 14lb XL on a 6'6"M or MH.
