I've been catching hogs on multiple lakes.....but I don't come on the forum and post em everyday because as soon as you do everyone and their manager will be there. There's a lake that I used to fish all the time and catch big fish and everyone would say "why do you fish there its a horrible lake" little did they know I would catch multiple 5+s per trip, well fast forward to the next year and people are on the forum posting all the hogs the lakes been producing and what do you know "well looks like it's time to start going to lake ?????" , then people start suggesting if you want to catch big fish go here. Now the ramp that used to have maybe 6-8 trucks on the weekend is full to the point where you have to park in the grass and line the street. Loose lips sink ships and I don't think people realize what they do when they tell everyone where the gold is. Nothing like going to the lake in the middle of the week thinking there won't be any pressure as usual but boats are on all your holes now (of course I don't own them but I've never had to share doing the week until recently). My suggestion is there's nothing wrong with posting your catches , but don't tell everyone where you caught em. I'm the type to post a picture of where I caught my fish and when asked where I'll say on the Amazon , or Ohio river

It's a jaded view, but I'm coming around to it. I'm to the point now when I see positive fish reports on my favorite lakes I shudder. Fishing is a paradoxical sport in that the more people that enjoy it the less people enjoy it.

I don't know what to think any more. You have fun on a lake, you take a few pics, you post them up. What's wrong with someone reading it and being encouraged to get out of the house and go fish there? For some that read it, maybe just enough incentive to try some place new if they've never been. In my experience the folks that complain about others burning their spots or even whole lakes are just lazy and like the easy stuff. I've never believed catching fish was supposed to be easy. If I had wanted easy, I would have stuck to golf. smile

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Yes! These forums should be about helping each other figure out how to do it better, not just advertisement for guides and lure salesmen. This is especially true when the fishing gets tough.

you'll never understand those that do not like people that advertise places, just like a lot of people will not understand how some will allow their egos to influence pressure on certain lakes

It is a crazy phenomenon. As soon as the fishing gets good, EVERYONE becomes a fisherman all of a sudden. I am 100% of the belief that lakes are public and I have no more rights to one than anybody else. I don't have any places that are MY spots, or any fish that are MY fish. With that said, If I go to a particular lake on a whim, and the fishing turns out to be good, it is a bit frustrating when word gets out and EVERYBODY (who never bothered to even think about the lake before) all of a sudden decides to show up and fish. To many people looking for the easy way out so they can get a picture holding up 5 fish to post to Facebook. The age of "Look at me" is upon us. I enjoy seeing a good 8+ pound fish picture. But to many guy posting handfuls of 3 and 4 pounders on a Tuesday doesn't impress me much.
