I recently purchased an aluminum rig. For weight purposes, I'm debating twin powerpole micros. However, I'm familiar with standard powerpoles. I'm wondering how twin sportsman2 would be on the back of a 17 basstracker? I'm mainly worried about the weight. Does anyone have experience with the micros?

Good YouTube video of a guy with micros on a tracker. He's got a couple of videos I think. One at install and a couple after some use. The micro seems to hold his boat fine. He shows it in some pretty good current

Edit.... It was was easy to find so I'm posting a link

If it were me, I'd just get a single Power Pole.

i use to own one
cant use power poles -- nowhere to mount the hydraulic platform (i put dual trolling motor batteries in mine --thats the bigger problem with these boats)
i had a single 8 ft talon
the boat will pinwheel with the wind with a single but once you get used to it its not a prob
i would not own a alum boat without one

go with lithium batteries and you'll save the weight plus a lot to use 2 poles

no my point was you need two batteries for the trolling motor (would run dead before the day was up )
therefore this is no mounting room for the hydraulics of a power pole

i dont know if you could get it in there with a single battery thats why i went with talon

with that being said -- the wind makes it tough in alum boat --i would have a shallow water anchor of some type

be the best money you spend on this boat !

I know I haven to change the set up of this boat some. I plain on moving the trollingmotor batteries to the bow. The gas might be in the way. I will more than likely run 27series for trollingmotor and a 31agm for cranking. I will be adding two additional pumps to the livewell along with a secondary bilge pump. I plain on recessing the trollingmotor pedal. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

i did the recessed foot also --gotta get rid of the middle rod tube
you can get 2 trolling batteries and one starting in rear compartment if you go with talon

Yea save were ever you can and trade the rim boat in on a older use glass boat. I spent the last 5 years fighting the wind in a alum boat. If that's not a financially doable deal. Then get the micros and the biggest TM you can.

The boat is not an exact basstracker. But it's like one.

I plain on distributing the weight so I can draft shallower.

This project boat is strickly for river fishing to keep from tearing up my glass boats.
