I volunteered at a wounded warrior fishing trip yesterday on Canyon Lake, as did several of my friends. The warriors came up from San Antonio, we met them at the ramp at 6:30 and took off to go fishing. The fishing was slow, and got even slower once the recreational boaters showed up, but several boats caught some decent fish. We had burgers and dogs for them once we got off the water around 1:00. It was a great time, fun was had by all, and hearing the stories from the guys in my boat about how they were injured made me super proud and grateful to be an American, where we are blessed to have men and women that are willing to lay their lives on the line in order to give us the freedom to enjoy the great outdoors. I felt somewhat uncomfortable having these heroes shake my hand and thank ME for taking them fishing, when the thanks should be directed at them. We are already planning another trip later this year to Lake Amistad so that we can put them on some quality fish.

Thanks, guys. It means a lot to me to be able to provide these heroes with an opportunity to catch some fish and to take their minds off of the horrors of what they have witnessed. We are really looking forward to the Amistad trip. It should be a blast.
