I mainly fish with mono and use braid in heavy cover. i what to know what is the better choice between copolymer and mono. i know i would get the response of using fluorocarbon but i have tried it a few times and it almost costed me a fishing rod that i almost threw in the water. i need some input please.

Try P Line. Its copoly based with a fluoro outer coating. It casts more like mono than a fluorocarbon and has great strength. Plenty sensitive, too.

I did not like the stretch that mono offered so I tried P-Line CXX 17 lbs. I put it to the test trolling, cranking, or whatever else I could think of. I was so impressed that I dropped down to 15 lbs. I now use the 15 lbs CX on all of my cranking rods and love it. I have faught big fish around trees with out much abraison. The casting distance is nice and easy. As a matter of a fact, I taught my wife how to use an open face recently. As you can imagine, she had quite a few back-lashes. Even though it put a few bends in the line, I have not noticed any problems.

I loathe co-poly. Lots of fishermen like to give flouro grief about memory. Co-poly is thick and has WAY too much memory. In my opinion of course.

I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

I've been using Mccoys Mean Green for many, many years and love the stuff. Its a copoly. Fluorocarbon coated with a silicon coating. It is super strong and abrasion resistant. Also thin for its size and has less memory than most lines out there. If I'm using the 20 lb I have a very hard time breaking it, usually pull up a limb or bend the hook. I use it for almost everything and the best part is only cost about $24 for 700 to 1000 yards.

I'm a co polymer P Line Premium CX fan, best all around line I've found. With the exception of 2 braid rods, everything I have is spooled with CX. I've used the P Line CXX also, its the strongest line I've ever used but has way more memory. I'll use it from time to time in the warmer months, but in cold weather its like bailing wire.

I LOVE silver thread. I have never had a issue with it. great casting, tough, holds knots well. and the best thing about it, its $cheap$, when you can find it. bp in garland has it in only a few sizes. I use either 12# or 14#.
