What happened to him? Did he pass away or what?

Yep. His show came on the earliest of all the big saturday night Country western music shows. About 5 - 5:30 I believe. It was preceeded by Johnny Gonzalez and Fiesta Mexicana, which was very popular even back then. After Cowboy Weaver you had your Wilburn Brothers, Porter and Dolly, Ernest Tubb (my favorite) and many others. I always thought Cowboy Weaver was just ridiculous in those sequin suits and hats he wore. The word on the street at the time was that he had some kinda gender or sexuality issues.....which would explain his Liberache outfits. lizard

Big hair was an amazing thing. Was it just hair or was there an underlying steel infrastructure?

I was trying the other day to remember this guy.

The old school Saturdays were cartoons all morning.
Westerns all afternoon.
Live country shows like Cowboy Weaver and Buck Owens all evening.

I vaguely recall something about Dewey Groom coming to you live from the something or other ballroom. They broadcast live from some bar with people drinking and dancing at 6:00 in the evening.

The news on channel 8 would play Downraid on Fort Knox from Goldfinger in the foreground.
Then say its 10 o clock, do you know where your children are?
