Here's the set that I built for Anthony's boat. I have a set of 4 on my boat. Same principle as Silvia's using gas pipe a couple of floor flanges, angle iron and some rod holders from Academy. Then put the swim noodle on them for hooks/jigs.I welded the angle iron to the top of the gas pipe though. Made them a little sturdier.

Keep on fishing.

I didn't even know someone was selling these. I was walking through ACE looking for a part for my lawn mower and somehow the idea popped in my head. Crappie fishing must be an illness!

I remember "CrappieKiller's" website from years ago, that's what made me interested in crappie fishing. I normally weld just about everything and thought about it, but I wanted to be able to adjust it up and down if needed. I may make a larger one that is welded for stripers and catfish.

I like the Bee Ready's, but I enjoy making what I can and saving a little money also. Both cost me $30 and just bought 4 more holders for $8, so $38 isn't to shabby for two holders. Just an idea for those who are on a budget.

FoldcatFisher,

I got the base plate or "flanges" in the plumbing dept where they keep all the copper, pvc, etc at Home Depot. I saw them at Lowes in their piping section also. Costs $4.25 each. The rod holders in the pic are some old ones I had. They are the one's you clamp to the side of the boat, just used the holder section. I just bought the holders that you stake in the ground today and should work just fine. Just unscrew it from the stakes. Those are only $1.99 at Academy. Those you might have to ask for there location. I found it on an end cap of one of the fishing aisles. Hope this helped.

DBman,

Those are nice! I need to put some insulation foam on mine and a little paint so they could look half as nice as yours. thumb
