What ever kind of snake it is, friendly or not, it does not belong inside a school building.
I don't like snakes and try to avoid them. I usually will not try to kill one but I will stay away from it.

Senior yr in Llano we killed a 3.5-4ft rattle snake above the gym concession stand while we were getting the track mats down. Coach sent someone out to his pickup to get his 22 and he handed gun to a friend and shot it. Best we could figure it crawled in the mats previous track season and lived and hybrinated above concession stand. Principal kept a pistol with 22 rat shot to shoot the bats in the auditorium. Way different time. Growing up Country kids was more fun
