So we had the Hotter'n Hell here this past weekend. Over the past year I knew I wanted to get out of the ride, I've ridden the 100mi the past 2 years, and take part in the race. The ride being the 13,000 or so people lined up on Scott street that take off for the 100mi, 100k, 50mi, 25mi, & 10k rides, and the race starting a few blocks over doing a different 100mi and 100k route. From what I could tell it's mainly a bunch of high school/collegiate/bike shop teams of various levels (all really fast), then there's all the pro teams, like what you'd see on TV at the Tour de France. Then there's me... So I did the Cat 4/5 100k (62mi) race. My official time was 2:53:48 tied for 21st out of 52 people. For my first go at it, I'm pretty tickled. No stops or anything, but there were two places where people were handing out water bottles. I'm going to say it was the most physically demanding race/activity I've ever done in my life, but it was pretty fun. Crossed the finish line with a heart rate of 190. My wife and 4 year old also took part in it, they did the 10K ride for the 2nd year in a row. They say that's alot of fun. Here's some pictures.

that's awesome, always thought that race looked like a lot of fun! did they test you for EPO afterward? I dont think any cat 4/5 guys got tested but they were for sure doing it on the higher levels. Each group also the course official on the BMW motorcycles and a wheel support vehicle, I didnt want to fart with changing a wheel if I had a flat so I didnt mess with an extra set of wheels but it was cool seeing that. A big rule they were enforcing was no trash outside of feed zones. They had DPS on hand and said theyd be writing tickets for it.

Cool.
I should have had you steal all the Cannondale Lefty SI Stem/steerer that you could have got your hands on. We could have made a killing on selling them to the guys that have the Xi5's and Terrova's (they use them as grab handles).
