Let's hear it for your favorite landing net.
Brand, size, durability, cost, best place to buy it, would you buy it again? I'm sure this has been hashed out before but I wasn't able to find it through the search feature on the forum.
I have looked at Frabill, Loki, Monster, Ranger.... lot of options out there. I currently have a Bass Pro special... It works but leaves some to be desired.

I snapped a bunch of those cheap Chinese nets on big fish before I finally bought a Cummins BC-1 Big Cat net from Amazon. They cost around $75. It’s very strong and durable and can easily hoist trophy sized Blues without worrying about snapping it in half. Best thing about em is that they are made in good ol USA. There are defignitly cheaper options out there but this net will stand up to the abuse big fish put on a net and I’m always willing to pay more for that made in USA stamp. :

Like my Ranger net. Bought from Amazon. Have landed several 30-50 pound fish and it is solid.

I will have to check what my big one is, but it has the retractible handle. It has blue netting. I think I got it at Academy. I had to buy new dipnets when the boat rolled back in the pre-Turkey Day trip of 2003. We got caught in a storm just after setting two "Planter" trotlines out on the other side at the bottom of Lake Limestone. We had to fastfoot it to the Public ramp on the bottom east side. We overshot as it was raining so hard & the wind had already kicked up 3 to 4 foot waves. Boat rolled while we took shelter in the Restrooms. I got one really long handle type right after that, but it fell out of the boat when I was trying to hoist a big Yellow on a throwline. It did not float. So I had to buy yet another one & then some. I carry up to 5 or 6 sizes & 3 gaffs when using the MonArk 14 footer. The new Alumacraft 12 footer can hold them, but I decided to cut back on the amount to about 3 nets.
As to the one I noted, it has held Ops (Yellows) up to 57 pounds easily & Blues up to 36 or more pounds (easily). And when the time comes, I hope it somehow will hold "The Giant" too. I do not use it for Gator Gars, as the previous one (like this style- retractible handle) got a thread or two sliced with landing a 35# Gator Gar (Trinity River April 1986). That one also held "Big'Un" (Trinity River July 1985). "Big'Un" weighed 59 on the meat locker scale with tail turned at a right angle. The guy said it should go at least 65 pounds. I just call it 60# so nobody could accuse me of pumping up the weight. It had blue netting & I reinforced the main frame with a rod. The previous same style had green netting & had held up to a 35# Yellow (one of my YellowCat teachers when I was with him running his lines). His dipnet was not large enough, so I threw mine. I furnished the Super Shiner (the bait it was caught on) & the dipnet.
Also, I found that many do not float. So when I buy them, I stuff them with foam to make sure they will float

Ranger Octagonal Handle "Big Game" Landing Net (48-Inch Handle, 34 x 31-Inch Hoop, 48-Inch Net Depth) I have had this same net for a couple years and have not had any issues with it. It will fit a couple 40 lb blues in it side by side.
