Ive been a HS coach the last 32 years. Luckily Ive never had a player die on me. As TexasBlonde stated we are well educated on heat,, lightning and concussions. I think the dudes at Maryland went overboard. You probably wont see that in HS because the parents are so crazy about their baby and how hes treated.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right

It's pretty safe to say that if this kid had no previous health issues, this staff crossed the line. You HAVE to be able to recognize the difference between someone quitting, and someone's body quitting.

Never saw a fellow soldier die in boot camp. Certainly shouldn't see it in sports practice.

Exactly.
back when I played my coaches were mean as heck! especially during two a days, but they also knew when to let us take a break.
I remember they built us a watering station using saw horse stands and a piece of pvc with holes drilled in it. LOL

I googled deaths in bootcamp and these were the first 3 stories, so yes it does happen.

Back in the 60's our coaches wouldn't allow us to drink, only wash your mouth. They said you would get sick if you drank water, pushed a lot of salt pills.
