A lot of places like that make you pay before treatment if you don't have insurance.

Years ago I got dropped from my insurance and didn't know it until I was having foot surgery. When I went in the first time, it was in December and my insurance was good. I scheduled the surgery for January 2nd without knowing that it would be expired by then. The receptionist came in after he had given me anesthetic shots and broke the bad news. I had to hobble out to my truck and get my checkbook before he would start. After I wrote the check, it took him almost 20 minutes to come back in. I think they called the bank to make sure it was going to clear.

Do you work without compensation?

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

it would not have bother me so much if the doctor wasn't the 3rd employee to ask me plus they already had gotten my insurance info when I came in. The receptionist, insurance manager and then the doctor.

Yeah, the whole point of the admitting staff is to collect payment/information. By the time you get back to the doctor, his/her only concern should be fixing your problem. I could maybe understand the doctor asking if it's a workers comp injury, but beyond that, I'd be annoyed too.

I haven't been to a CareNow since my last work injury at the airlines. Long story involving unprofessional doctor conduct at their offices.

For what it's worth, I've gone to a local Primacare once in awhile when I've done something stupdi - like cut myself badly enough that it needs stitches and my doctors office is closed. Hand the front desk staff m my insurance card, pay the $35 copay, and the medical staff do not once ask me about money.
