Myself and a buddy of mine kayaked Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid the three BIG river lakes this week. We fished for Crappie and Sunfish. Here are the basic results.

Dunlap: Sunfish bite was fair. We picked up some nice Bluegill in 14 to 18 feet of water holding by brush piles and on ledges in that depth. Caught a few nice Redear with a couple going over 10". We also picked up several nice Redbreast. Crappie are scattered we did not catch that many. Could not find any at our usual spots. Seems that lower lake level may have played a factor in the bite. Jigs Chartreuse/Black and live minnows were the baits used.

Mcqueeney: Sunfish bite was slow. Picked up a few nice Bluegill on the east side of the Treasure Island bridge in 12 feet of water. Found a nice bunch of Crappie by the lower dam in 18 feet of water staged over a hump. Jigs Chartreuse/Black and live minnows were the baits used.

Placid: Both Sunfish and Crappie bite was slow: The fish we caught were scattered. We fished some spots that we had marked with no results. The few fish that we did catch were over by the lower dam in 16 feet of water. Live minnows was the bait with the only results.

Weather forecast is saying rain today and Sunday with colder temperatures. A slight warming spell will take place early this upcoming week. Rain and colder weather will start setting in this upcoming Thursday.

Stay safe out there !

Great report...seems very consistent with what I have been doing. Question...Dou you have electronics on your kayak ? I have never fished out of one, but they seem kind of strapped for space ? ...

Yes! I have a Lowrance 4X Chirp. Picked it up on sale for $79.99 about a year ago. Fits well in the kayak and it works pretty good! thumb

Gitter: I will post reports on the area river lakes in the future. woot
