Anyone know if these are persimmons? The look like it to me I just want to make sure before we eat any.

Yes. Persimmons. Generally the smaller "wild" ones are very tart until after the first freeze and they turn a darker orange.

Those are Persimmons and if they are not ripe you will know real quick.

I was fishing out at a cousins place in Grand Saline with a buddy and came across some wild persimmons. Well I took a bite out of one and made the biggest bitter beer face you have ever seen. My buddy then told me that they weren't ripe until after the first frost. We still laugh about it. It was like it sucked all the moister from my mouth.

cut it open, take the seed out and check for the knife or the spoon... I think it derived from the Indians. knife or a spoon meant a cold winter
