I couldn't successfully cold call if I were giving away $100 bills. I'm not that interested in what I have to say, why would anyone else be?

I train folks how to do it.

First thing, SMILE!!! You can hear it!

Next that's equally important. Sound like you're pleased to speak to them. Be friendly. Talk to them like you're talking to a friend.

Know what you're going to say before you pick up the phone. Put together your "script" and know it backwards and forwards. Know your product. Be able to answer any question. If you don't know an answer, say you don't know and that's a very good question!

Remember your magic words. Please and thank you and may I.

Confidence matters. Be confident. Be professional. Keep control of the call by steering folks where you want them to go. Ask leading questions. Keep them engaged.

Care. I know it sounds stupid. But care about your product, and treat your customers right. If someone chooses to speak with you, that just made your day. Its your chance. Thank them and mean it.

Yes they are and its amazing how many companies don't utilize their preexisting base by going over and doing "courtesy calls" with their customers.

Here's a freebie and this cost other companies quite a bit of money from me, and even though its been a year, I'm STILL getting responses from my campaign.

"Hello there! This is ____ with ___. I noticed it's been a while since anybody has heard from you and I just wanted to touch base and make sure you're still taken care of. If there's anything I can do for you, Please give me a call. My number is ____. Thank you and have a great day!"
